LSO and Mr. Bean's 'Chariots' most tweeted

Twitter activity exploded when the LSO and Mr. Bean took to the stage during the 2012 Olympic Games opening ceremony

Friday night's opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games gave viewers many surprises, but the most popular on Twitter was the London Symphony Orchestra and Mr. Bean's take on the popular Olympian theme, Vangelis' Chariots of Fire.

According to Andrew Fitgerald, manager of editorial programming at Twitter, the spike in tweeting activity came "When Rowan Atkinson, a.k.a. Mr Bean, appeared in a hilariously memorable homage to the Olympians of Chariots of Fire."

Mr. Bean, played by Rowan Atkinson, 'performed' the monotone synthesiser line made famous by the film's score while an accompanying film was played, resulting in Sir Simon Rattle chastising him from the conductor's podium.
